How I collect feedback for Ensō

fleeting and very much wip

Over the years I've collected a fair bit of feedback for Ensō, some of it via email, some via my Say Hi calls, then some through comments on forums, message boards or social media. I don't rely much on analytics and most of the work on Ensō involves reducing distractions rather than piling on new features. Because of that the quality of feedback so far has been way above anything I've been used to. I feel like I have a decent understanding of the use cases, without having been creepy about it.

And frankly, I don't have the words (i.e. literally, I had been rewriting this sentence for the past 15 minutes) to describe how much pleasure it gives me to either receive a long and thoughtful email from a user describing how Ensō helped them get through a writer's block or just spotting a comment on it in the wild.

a giant foot-shaped snail with a house on its back. the house is still in construction, with a big crane towering above it The image is a stylized black-and-white illustration. In the lower left corner, there is a small, cozy-looking house with smoke rising from its chimney. The smoke, however, does not dissipate into the air but instead forms a dark, looming cloud. Within the cloud, the silhouette of a large, menacing face is visible, with its eyes and nose peeking through the darkness. The creature, perhaps a cat, appears to be watching over the house ominously, creating a sense of foreboding or unease.
